Ok,
seriously. EDIT BUTTON. It's not that hard. This is what I
was trying to tell you the first time. It wasn't so much the
fact that it's Mab's art as it is that it's a gift for Soshi.
I mean, there's a copyright right on the pic that says "Grey
(c) Soshi". You don't just take a gift meant for someone
else and use it without premission. And for the love of God,
don't whine about it when they say
no.

Word to the
wise, my buddy Soshi dosn't like to be refered to by gender.

Y'all
over-react much? He may be a newbie, evident by his typing
skills and general lack of internet slang know-how, but the
crux of being a newbie is that he's also very polite. I think
he's handled this very well and in a kindly manner.
Considering the lax moderation around these parts, he could
have just used my cropped version and not asked; he did for a
short while anyways. The short of it is: You shouldn't react
to people this way when they're polite and, if it were me, I'd
be kinda happy someone thought my character was cool enough to
want to be featured in a profile. Not everybody has art talent
or friends with said skills to draw them stuff. I actually
kinda feel sorry for the
guy.

You know what....no. I've had people steal my art and
art that people drew for me. It's not very flattering. Even
though he wasn't claiming the art as his own, the least he
could have done was ask. Maybe if this was the first time
hearing about this, yeah, I'd try to be more polite and
helpful. But it isn't. I WAS polite and helpful when I first
told him he should ask premission first. I told him it was
gift art for Soshi, and he acknowledged that. When the picture
disappeared from his sig, I figured he had either asked or
just taken it down. But no, it turns out he just didn't know
how to work the image tag. I'm sorry, but the "I'd be
flattered if someone used my art" line doesn't work when
you've had your art stolen from you before. And the fact that
Ajax KNEW it was gift art Amber drew for a friend and didn't
bother to even ASK....that isn't very flattering in the
slightest. That's a tad on the disrespectful side. Yeah,
he's a newbie. And now he knows. And knowing is half the
battle.

What do you
mean, the least he could do? He did ask, though you have to
realize he hasn't been in your shoes before. I just think it's
sad that people have these huge chips on their shoulder
regarding online art and whenever someone slips up in the
slighest, they come down with the force of an angry God. Soshi
came and basically had the whole nine yards laid out like Ajax
was slandering his identity, putting words in his mouth or
something. You've got to be kidding me. The last thing
Ajax intended to do was give Soshi a bad name, yet there he
goes. I know this is probably a bad comparison to make, but I
can't win this battle; it's about popularity in the end and
the amount of artists tired and full of pent up rage over
stolen artwork band together to smite a common foe. I can tell
you this now, though, Ajax shouldn't be the target. Until he's
the one wearing your artwork on a shirt or selling your stuff
under a falsely contrived DA account, I think you owe him an
apology.

I'm sure in
a perfect world we could all get member numbers according to
our level of activity on the net and online streetsmarts, but
that's not how it goes.
You may find this hard to
believe, but if someone is brand new to the community, they
aren't going to think about these things. You need to be able
to someday learn the difference between malicious intent and
the ignorance of a newcomer.

Uh. I told him, very politely, in another thread that
he should ask premission, and that the pic was meant for
someone else. He said "Oh yeah, Mab did draw this for a
friend, didn't she?" and then....didn't do anything about
it. Soshi came in here to clear a few things up, it seemed.
Because, quite honestly, Ajaz made it sound like Soshi freaked
out on him when he asked. I'm sorry, but this whole "It's
all about popularity and artists taking it out on the little
guy" thing is tired and old. This isn't about popular artists
oppressing and bullying the younger, weaker individuals. Don't
try to make it something it's not. It's about Ajax using a
picture Amber drew for a friend, being told he should ask
premission, him not listening, being told AGAIN, and then him
stating that Soshi threatened to sue him. Like I said
before, I'd be more patient and polite if this was the first
time. The fact I was pretty much ignored bothers me. Now
you're telling me it's all about popularity, and we should be
flattered when someone uses artwork that isn't theirs without
giving credit. Yeah.
Sure.

Do you
wanna re-read what he actually said before you say that again,
or are you content in making him out to be a bad guy?
You know, maybe you folks don't need to someday
learn the difference between the two types of fan "theft" I've
mentioned. Comfortable in your social cliques, whenever a
situation like this arises, you just sort've win by default
due to your horrible past experiences. Maybe if I shorten
things for you, you'll understand it in a more logical and
empathetic view. He made some harmless mistakes. He is new. He
had no intent of stealing and not referencing, and he
"ignored" you probably by mistake or simply lacks the
attention span to catch on.
God forbid you should ever
make a mistake like his in the future. Quite frankly I'm
surprised people haven't figured out how insecure and
generally not-nice you guys can be
sometime.

I don't
think it's theft. But I do think the fact he didn't give
credit isn't too cool. I think the fact he had to be asked
TWICE to ask premission wasn't too cool. And the fact that he
appareantly didn't have the attention span to ask premission
the first time is just...disrespectful. I'm sorry you think
we're insecure and 'not-nice', but I think 'impatient' is a
better word. Yeah, he's a newbie, and yeah, he'll make
mistakes. And now he's learned a very important lesson for his
internet-life. I hope he uses it to his advantage. Now, if
you'll excuse me, I'm late for my 'bitter and not-nice artist
club' midnight luncheon.

You must
take me to be pretty foolish. I remember you now, from Pink's
forum. Funny how things've changed since then, really. I don't
recall you being this immature when it came to such matters,
but then I guess you can get away with acting however you
please when you back it up with friends and live journal
posts.

I'm sure
you'd like to think that, but I was actually trying to find an

irony, someone else had an "inhuman" signature with a
cookie-cutter bishonen character.
I'll leave you to
ramble useless chatter and get away with it, what with you
being a friend of Amber and all. Simply justifies my opinions
concerning you, is all.
