Note- I found this while looking through my VERY old sketchbooks and papers, trying to find things to scan for the dinosaur section. It required a little editing, but basicly the stuff has stood the same over the years.
Based upon the idea of a divine being ruling all, Rulerism was started in the year 42 ST (Space Travel) by an Earth Human named Michael Schnoor. The spread of Rulerism through the Human colonies fed the fire of racial intolerance. The only decleration of Rulerism was that it was the one true path and that Humans were the one true race. All others were deformed or sick in the Rulerist perspective. According to Rulerism, to "Put an alien out of its misery" was a merciful and commemorable action. Any who followed other religions were considered Pagan, even if those religions had been established for thousands of years beforehand.
The symbol of Rulerism is the Eye of Him, which is often worn by prophets or generals. The eye was usually silver or pewter, inlaid with other metals. In the center was a red stone. It was said that the Ruler watched his children through such stones and one who carried it with them would be protected by holy powers.
Although Rulerism denied the existance of scientific study in its entirity, records were found years later of several secret research facilities. This will be covered later.
The Supreme Ruler was a vengeful figure, the majority of his miricles involving heretics suffering for doubting his existance. It is still not completely understood why Humans opted to worship a violent God, although it was guessed that was merely an outlet of their vicious nature. Mass slaughters were commited in the name of the Ruler, occassionally resulting in the destruction of entire worlds and ecosystems. Many cultures were altered or enslaved by Ruleristic beliefs.
Looking back into the history of all cutlures, including Humans, the "miricles" of the Ruler were found in most cases to be fictional or unproven.
The presence of an all-powerful male entity indicated several things. The religion was obviously created by a male, likely one with power conflicts who felt insignificant. It is suspected that Schnoor had created this God, perhaps based on hiimself, but that is entirely uncertain.
In the Rulerist way of life, Females were not allowed positions of power and were not granted the same rights as men. Only men could become priests and no priest was allowed to travel in public without a ceremoinal weapon. If any alien, woman or pagan crossed them or otherwise offended them, they were permitted by law to decapitate the offender on the spot. Should they be met with opposition, the police were in favour of Rulerism. While normally large riots could be quelled with the help of local authorities, the so called 'Pagan Army' proved to be enough of a nuisence to actually draw the Rulerists into an actual war.
Weaponry had made almost no advances since the Communication Era began. This era started close to the year 3000, when Human signals and Alien signals began to bounce off one another in a crude interstellar communication code. Most races became so entranced with the idea of intelligent life in space that they stopped any further advancements in other fields and concentrated on communication and space travel. Life maintainted at the lifestyle of the year 3000 for several hundred years as Alien communications progressed. When Rulerism came into power in the new age, 42 years into the ST era, they began genetic testing to create a superior Human for fighting.
They did this by splicing Animal DNA into a developing Human embryo and then implanting it into a surrogate Human mother. Only the Inhuman children who appeared Human were permited to live and go on with training. Deformaties were put down.
For the first eleven (on average) years of their lives, the Inhuman children were fairly obedient and receptive to training for a war against Aliens. However, like both teenaged humans and Animals, once they began to reach the ages of twelve or thirteen, they began to become rebellious. While Rulerists used various methods to keep the Inhumans submissive, they were eventually forced to abandon the idea of Human/Animal hybrids altogether.
In the meantime, these Inhumans were bred and researched in depth. Many were completely unresponsive to pain or fear and several had violent tendencies. Unfortunately, analyzation of the brain tissue of Inhumans showed that they would slowly regress backwards to an animal conciousness, one incapable of functioning in a Human body. Few Inhumans survived and those that did are often mentally unstable.
Later testing brought about the AGH [Artifically gestated Human] or Puppet. While the AGH was trained in an identical fashion to their Inhuman predecessors, they were selectively bred and altered in a different manner. The emotions, imagination and general individual characteristics of AGH were stamped out. This rendered them with a perminant ideal military mentality.
The Rulerist army was run very systematicly. One Human would command a group consisting of frouty to fourty-five AGH. Using trench warfare, repeater guns were placed about every 100 feet, manned between with snipers and infantrymen. The only flaw with this planning was that the AGH were not able to distinguish friend from enemy, and once someone entered their ranks that person often went undisturbed. For this reason the amount of actual Humans in the army eventually increased.
The Rulerist army used atmosphere and space based fighting in addition to their infantry, though only as a backup. The planes were Human-made stealth fighters, painted a uniform black. Another major hazard the Rulerists gave their enemies to face was the Space Mine, also known as the Yellowjacket. The Yellowjacets were homing mines that could operate in both atmosphere and vaccuum. So named for their colour as well as vicious nature, Yellowjackets would activate during the passing of a plane operating on stolen radio airwaves and take off after it. The Yellowjackets could easliy overtake the targetted plane and would ignite in a subatomic explosion that would completely anihalate both plane and pilot. When put together into a mine feild, Yellowjackets were refered to as "Swarms." When in a Swarm, the tiny weapons could take off independantly and box in a target plane. Whlie Yellowjacets could sometimes be set off prior to explosion to save the plan and pilot, this was extremely risky and relied entirely on a wingman to do. While sometimes a passing freighter could be attacked by sleeping Yellowjackets, the design worked fairly well in targeting the bootleg radio frequency of Alien planes.
