K.K. and JayJay
my earliest characters ever, JayJay respembles a very early version of a Hekshanian- probably the first ever, if I want to stretch the truth. Jay Jay had been around since fifth grade, but this was probably about seventh or eigth grade. Once Hekshanians and Hellcats themselves came into existance, Jay Jay and his compatriots vanished.
Early Red Dog
Red Dogs were probably the first creatures of Inhuman brought into existance, predating even the Myches and to a point the Hekshanians.

Early Soshika
this is how Hekshanians, and Soshika, looked for many years (as you will see later). Notice taht her eyes are black, slitted, and she also has a stripe on the back of her tail and hands. Notice also that Hekshanian feet have essentially remained unchanged.
Early Flit
this is as close to a flit as you can probably find of my old works. I like this still, because it has many colours.
Backdrop Soshika
this was where Soshika 'lived' for about two years of story-time. Notice that I thought this was both 'good' and 'detailed.' This is about 9th grade.
Early Flit 2
some things don't change much, once you find something that works. Here's another early flit. They've left behind their 'buggy' look but essentially the 'cute flying multicoloured creature' is the same.
Soshika (very old)
heres a colour version where you can actually see the stripes. Notice that Soshika has always been yellow, more or less, with brown hair. Also notice that she had whiskers. This predates any anime influence-look at the nose and mouth. Also notice my complete inability to draw breasts. This outfit was Soshika's for about two years.

myches. one of the oldest aliens, predating even the Hekshanians. Myches have essentially remained entirely unchanged (although theyve gotten less anorexic) through the years. Here you can see Jino and Igna, whose colours are still the same. Also note that Myches originally laid eggs.

Original Hand (Hekshanian)
back in the day i called them 'hellcats.' Here's Soshika's hand, close up and detailed. Note that after time, they lost their 'claws.'
First Influence
ah, here we are. Spliced, the first official anime influenced Hekshanian. First of all, the hair is a rip of Ryoko. Secondly, look at the eyes. I obviously knew very little about the anime/manga genre at the time. But spliced was my 'test cat.'
The Hellcats
here's the original 'hellcat' cast. Notice that Spliced (the red head in the white dress) has slightly anime-influenced eyes. Also notice that Soshika is starting to be influenced by this as well- her hair now has 'hanging' parts in the front. I'm not sure why I didn't fully switch to the influenced style at this time. Maybe I was nervous I couldn't do it right.
The First
This is the earliest known drawing of Soshika in existance. Notice that she was always a ditz- I'm trying to fix that now, but she has always been one. Also notice her original name was not SoshikA, but Soshik. I couldn't tell you why, really.
Hellcats Comic One
I thought I'd include this for humor value. You can see that I was gradually learning movement and varied body positions, which is more than I can say for some artists who draw everything the same way and never get out of it. Still, the comic is patheticly lame.
Hellcats Comic Two
continuation of above. See where I tried to have 'action' taking place? I still had no idea what boobs looked like. Or female faces, apparently. :o Thankfully, this comic never went any further.
Swinging In
a very early picture of Soshika 'in action' with the very early version of the Katana. At the time it was more like a double bladed lightsabre (episode 1 and 2 had NOT come out yet) with sharp pointy things on the edges. I myself still admit that it was a blaitent rip off Exar Kun's blade. But at least it proves I read a lot. hmfp.
Early Anime Influence
yes, theres your classic 'pulling down the eyelid and sticking out the tongue' thing. Soshika at this time still had big, black eyes with white slit pupils, and a relatively feline face. However, I must have been watching some anime, so this is about tenth grade.
The 'Katana'
it was originally called the miasima, or something to that effect. But here it is- you can see just how much of a lightsabre ripoff it was :3
Lean
a very old soshika just leaning in. Still whiskers, still spade-tailed, still striped, still in that doofy outfit. However, I kinda like this. Maybe it's the 'gwa?' look.
Before Anime
Here's a Soshika that HAS to be from ninth grade. Notice the hair just sort of sags on her shoulders, instead of puffs up anime style. Once again- deformed tits, generally early work.
Car Hood
for the life of me, no idea why Soshika's on a car hood. At the time I guess I drew her sitting down and then had nothing for her to sit on. Obviously I'd been watching a bit of anime because her hair doesn't look like it hasn't been washed in six years anymore. BLEH!

lots of soshikas, all displaying an anime influence. You can see 'cute' poses, action poses, and also a pose of her balancing on one hand that I think I emulated years later (unintentionally) in a picture of Kyo. That's odd, because Kyo was not in existance at this time.
Nearly There
soshika, showing some 'space' tendencies. She had her current name at this time...But was still hopelessly stupid looking/acting. The blade of her lightsabre/katana was orange. I have yet to know why...Usually playing Jedi Knight at this time, my blades were neon green.

yes, even back then i had delusions about my website being amazingly famous. However, then, it was on tripod. You can see the old URL (nothing is there now) written down. What the 'Hellcats' was was essentially a group of kiddie hackers (quite a threat in the day) what went around tormenting chatrooms. SOOOO mature. here is Soshika, gradually getting more and more anime influenced. Still not there yet.
Learning Gradually
Here, about late-10th or early-11th grade, Soshika is starting to look a bit more usable. She's also broken away from the 'Hellcats' and is becoming something independant.
Whiskers
just a pic to show off her whiskers...and also that for a while, I tried red eyes. But they didn't look right at all so I went back to white, it seems.

Trouble on Both Ends
Suega, Kyotoshi and Soshika. Kyotoshi's very existance puts this at 11th (second time) grade. This is a pretty early picture of Suega, because her wings were still very unnatural
I Hate You
This must have been in 11th grade the second time around, because my friend James had a band and this was one of their songs. The little baking-thingie was put there by a friend. Because she said Soshika looked like Shampoo from ranma.
'Chibi' Soshika
yes, learning to draw 'cute.' The eye style was changing here, you can tell, but it wasn't fully out of the black base/white center era. Sadly. I guess I learned to do something right, and then unlearned.
Sunset Strip
I was listening to Cake back then, obviously. Hekshanian feet were getting more put to scale at this point, and the ears were being tufted but that's it. You can see I really had no grasp of breasts (STILL), clothing, or eyes. Also, those damn claws.

some of the people who visit this site may remember this- the original Kyotoshi's Cantina graphic on the original hekshano.com. Jeez it's old. Gengy, Kyotoshi and Jasusi. ONLY ONE OF THOSE CHARACTERS SURVIVED. Bweh!
Small Kyo
I'm fairly sure these were the 'creme de la creme' pictures, because they were taped into a special notebook. However, you can see Kyo advancing a little here- his eyes are white with blue spots. Sadly the only real difference between male and female chests at this stage in drawing was female chests looked like a roadbump had been placed in the middle of them.
Old Midreak
midreak had many faces, but this is the one i still like. just like all animals of the time, he still looks anorexic. My inability to draw him and the other guardians consistantly was probably part of the reason they were eventually dropped altogether.
Hekshanian and Book
You can see a deffinite anime influence here, but also a deffinite rush in the drawing itself. The Hekshanian ears were getting more into the style I used early in college, but the eyes were still hopeless. This is what happens when your artistic influence is limited to Toonami.
Luna and a Hekshanian

Soshika: The Humor
This was done late in public high school. Notice the still-black eyes. This was actually for a pokemon fanfic in which Soshika was featured, but she didn't change her looks much. There's that speedbump chest again.

an old leaning Kyo. Nothing really special, just note that his hair is much tamer at this point in his life. Less spikey.

an old hekshanian. A boy, I'd guess, because he has short hair. Blar! Notice how the tails defied gravity for a long time.
Soshika and Midreak
By this time, the maisma/lightsabre had been abandoned for a katana (notice my ignorance, i refer to them as 'katana swords.') and Midreak had been brought into existance. HOWEVER, she was still wearing a skin-tight suit. And had balloon boobs. However, you're looking at something that was a deffinate step in the timeline of Soshika.
Cleaning the Bar
a site graphic for the original hekshano.com that never went up. Note how the ears stick straight up all the time on most of the older Hekshanians. They developed the ability to pivot and move to show mood much later.
Two-tailed Rat
this was the first panel of a comic that never went any further. It was going to feature Soshika exploring her homeworld for the first time back in a while with the help of Kyo. The rat had been mutated somehow. I don't know how. I swear to god, it never went beyond the first panel.
Sock Monkey
Okay, since the sock monkey is IN TACT, I'm dating this second-year-11th-grade. Also note the eyes are still black.

one of the old old old comics that was started and never finished. This one followed the froofy 'magical' end of W-10. I don't like it at ALL anymore. However you can see deffiniate Ryoko influence in Soshika's hair in this one. I don't know what that thingie in the chair in front of her is, but the Warriors Ten text was obviously copied off a peice of paper.

Not much to say here other than THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF GREY :o I couldn't draw humans, so for a very very long time he existed only in my mind. My inability is shown in full glory by the fact that he is ENTIRELY in shadow.

This followed the story very closely, which i think is why i eventually abandoned it. It never went beyond this page. Hekshanians have always said craika (or something to that effect) as a swear. Here be proof.
Smallish Soshikas
at this point i think i had begun to watch AH! Megumi Sama (sp?) and you can see the obvious uber-cuteness effect it left on the small-versions. Note also I desperately wanted to emulate the screentone effect.
Old Soshika
im going to date this early senior year, or something close to it. At least i learned my characters looked better with their eyes CLOSED...but eh.
Harmonica
small soshikas. this was my version of a 'chibi' or 'smallish' for years...until i abruptly changed about the same time i started using gel pens to colour things.
The Egg
for those who dont know, rabindranath (midreaks son) originally came from an egg in the stories. It was a source of hilarity. I cut it out completely in later versions, but 'the egg' lived in infamy.
On a Planet
a blaitent rip off an A!M.S. picture that is in sticker form on the inside cover of the sketchbook this came from. still, learning from emulation is still learning.

igna reaches her 'current' design. You can see the legs are getting fleshier, but overall Myches did not change. Also notice I've begun to abandon the froofy 'magical' end of the story and focus on the mechanics.
Pourra by Saathi
i cant rightfully claim to have drawn this- solla's designer did, years ago. However, i painted it. Pourras were giant fire breathing beasts that lived on Ando, but were also eventually altogether dropped from the story. God my thumb itches.

likely the first in existance (ignore the cat picture that slipped behind it- i couldnt get it out). Notice how they seemed a lot more 'open' towards others. Now when Magins are drawn, I try to give them an aloof 'leave' look.

the centaurian species of Magin life (aka the ones that are still alive) hasnt really been developed since its early days- but here is what it looks like. Something like a Felitaur.

bekir are not often featured, but this is more or less what they look like.
First Jet Ever
the first picture of jet in existance. Notice that he's always been shirtless, but originally had a white stomach and darker coloured fur. Also, his hair was short (!!) which really confuses me. He always wore a flight jacket and pants, though.
Old Myche
a slightly mid-aged drawing of a Myche. Just a random one. I have always loved the Myches, mostly because they have remained so unchanged. Like sharks. Good things need no improvement.

First Kyotoshi Ever
O-KAY! Now we're getting into interesting stuff. Note that Kyo was always yellow, and always had a silver patch of fur on his right eye. Also, his shirt was originally black. I don't know why. He ALWAYS had the trenchcoat, and the jeans. Interestingly, his eyes were originally supposed to be white and pink, bleached from doing drugs. Yeah, Kyo used to do drugs instead of drink as his vice. overall, Kyo from this era looks rather mean compared to the current Kyo.

THIS IS MORE LIKE IT. an old comic featuring Soshika and her first time back to Hekshano. In this page- note that Jet's eyes go RIGHT OFF HIS HEAD. Also by this time Jet had his bangs. Good for him. What they're saying is illegable, but not very important.

Once again, eyes off the heads. However, this was the earliest drawn scorn towards Kyotoshi Soshika ever displayed- She doesn't believe he'd ever join the Pagan army. How Jet showing her the symbol convinces her, we may never know. Also see how lechy Jet is sitting in the car.

the conclusion :o Oddly enough, the comic was actually drawn BACKWARDS. Meaning, this was the first page and I worked back from there. I'm not sure why, really.
